Through the adoption of a homegrown framework for community culture, we will strive to ensure there is full and equitable participation of all students, faculty and staff that is mutually shaped to meet their needs at Carroll.

With a socially just organization as our goal, our behaviors, policies, procedures, and practices must be connected to, and be centered on, all students. As contributors to the culture and success of the organization, we are committed to living out our Ethos and goals by:

1. Creating inclusive teams and work climates where all are respected, valued, feel a sense of belonging, and can contribute to their full potential.


2. Continually deepening self-awareness, knowledge, and capacity to effectively engage in meaningful dialogue about identity, culture, equity, inclusive practices, etc.


3. Using data to effectively analyze, evaluate, and revise all current policies, programs, curricula, practices, and services as needed, to eliminate negative differential impact and create inclusion and belonging.


4. Developing relevant and inclusive programs, curricula, processes, and services to reflect the diversity of experiences at Carroll.


5. Fostering behaviors that correlate to a passion for lifelong learning, skill-building, and the development of an inclusive, increasingly diverse community.


6. Recognizing and interrupting unproductive behaviors such as implicit bias, attitudes, behaviors, and microaggressions in oneself and others.


7. Responding effectively when given feedback about the impact of comments, actions, and inactions.


8. Deepening an understanding of the lived experiences of all members of the community at Carroll and beyond.


9. Implementing a system of development and accountability to ensure accelerated progress towards becoming a socially just organization.

The "iRespect You" Campaign at Carroll University epitomizes the institution's Ethos (Respect, Integrity, and Stewardship) rooted in the goal of being a socially just organization. It seeks to cultivate a culture where every individual continues to know they are valued, celebrated, and seen. By promoting understanding and dialogue, the campaign not only enhances campus life but encourages students, faculty, and staff to know that we rise by lifting others. 

Campus Climate Reporting
Carroll University is committed to cultivating and sustaining a welcoming and inclusive living and learning environment for every member of our campus community. The Campus Climate Response Protocol advances this commitment by providing a mechanism by which individuals may report incidents of real or perceived bias, exclusion, or inequity and seek support through campus resources in addressing those concerns.

Inspire Program
The Inspire Program is for students from partner organizations who are uniquely preparing students for college. Inspire Scholars receive individualized support, academic support, and sociocultural programming designed to promote their access, retention, graduation from college and leadership in their communities. This program is open to 40 incoming students each year.

The Office of Community Culture provides leadership and a collaborative university-wide approach to internationalize through its work around immigration, campus-wide programming and cultural support and services for F-1 students and international faculty and staff. 

Pioneer Bridge Program
Pioneer Bridge high school to college orientation program for first generation and underrepresented students.

Pre-College Programs
Helping our current students realize their true potential is at the heart of everything we do. We’re equally committed to younger students interested in learning more about college and providing them with the tools they need to prepare for the next step in their education.

Student engagement is an integral part of Community Culture. We collaborate with international, non-traditional and other Carroll students to understand their needs and enhance their experience on campus. Get involved today!
